Please prepare two (2) contrasting monologues no longer than three minutes. Audition may also consist of cold readings from scripts.

“Misfortune” by Mark Harvey Levine - Directed by David Galido
BARRY: (M) Age 20-40. Any ethnicity. A reasonable man just trying to have a nice dinner with his wife.
CINDY: (F) Any age/ethnicity. A waitress. Somewhat put upon. A little bit nosy.

 

“End Scene” by Megan Blaschak - Directed by Kelly Rose Voigt
MAN: Age 25-40. Any race/ethnicity. A hapless gentleman who gets caught up in the schemes of our narrator. Requires excellent comedic timing.
STAGEHANDS: Any age, any race, any gender. A fed-up stagehand who grows more and more irritated with the tasks set by the narrator. Requires good comedic timing. Ability to carry/move props and small set pieces.

 

“Law Makers” by Danielle Wirsansky - Directed by Michelle Weiss
MILLICENT GARRETT FAWCETT: (F) (age flexible, but in actuality she was 65 at the time of the play) A highly educated British woman. She is personable and an incredible writer and orator. She firmly believes in her cause and is a skilled leader for her large organization. A cool exterior hides a passion and anger within.
EMMELINE PANKHURST: (F) (age flexible, but in actuality she was 54 at the time of the play) A strong-willed British woman who shines in performance. She gives highly motivational talks to her followers, inciting them to dramatic action. She has difficulty maintaining intimate relationships but is an inspiration to many.

“Alban’s Garden” by Rich Espey - Directed by Lili Bishop
SHARON: (F) - African-American, early 30s to mid 40s, wife, mother, affluent, grieving, persevering.
LAURA: (F) White, early 30s to mid 40s, wife, mother, unaware of privilege, thinks she has reason to fear.

 

“940 Feathers” by Tim Brennan - Directed by Peter Knox
CASPER: (M) Age 60-70 (give or take). Married to Hayden for forty years (give or take). He is a retired Community College English teacher. Actor must not be afraid of pauses and empty space.
HAYDEN: (F) Age 60-70 (give or take). Married to Casper for forty years (give or take). She is a retired CPA. She now writes. Actor must not be afraid of pauses and empty space.
